Mission Driven Investment

Nick Ashburn

What is mission investing – and why is it important? There’s a lot of jargon surrounding the topic, yet nonprofits are increasingly seeking to align their investment programs with their missions.  Organizations are integrating mission investing in their endowments and donor advised funds, as well as in other tools like charitable gift annuities, pooled income funds, and charitable remainder trusts.  Join PNC’s Head of Responsible Investing, Nick Ashburn, to learn more about how organizations are expanding their toolkit at the intersection of impact, philanthropy, and investments.

Nick Ashburn is the Head of Responsible Investing for the Asset Management Group at PNC Bank, where he leads the investment, operational, and product strategy for RI, which includes providing RI investment solutions for individuals, families, and institutions and advancing the firm's research and analytical capabilities on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics.  Before PNC, Nick was the Senior Director of Impact Investing at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he also co-hosted "Dollars & Change," a weekly show on SiriusXM's Business Radio Channel.  He has worked in community development venture capital in Austin, TX, as well as in nonprofits and strategy consulting. Nick graduated with a bachelors from Belmont University and a masters from the University of Pennsylvania.  He was a Fulbright fellow in Austria and has also held teaching positions at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas - Austin and the School of Social Policy & Practice at Penn.
